Timeless contemporary
ARCHITECTURE
1931
BUILDING AND HISTORY
- Brickwork building constructed in 1928-1930 from designs by the Swedish architect Alfred Grenander.
- The former headquarters of the BVG is one of the last remaining examples of the cosmopolitan development of Alexanderplatz dating from the 1920s.
- Refined architecture presents a practically unchanged external appearance after over 90 years.
- This is the last and most architecturally mature construction project by Alfred Grenander, whose important contributions to Berlin’s legacy from that time include his designs for a number of famous underground stations such as Wittenbergplatz, Hermannplatz and Alexanderplatz.
